UV-DTF Wrap Application & Care Guide
UV-DTF Wrap Application & Care Guide
UV-DTF wraps are a stunning way to customize your tumblers, cups, and bottles. Follow these steps for the best results and the longest-lasting finish.
โ Compatible Surfaces
UV-DTF wraps adhere best to:
- Stainless steel tumblers (coated or powder-coated)
- Hard plastic cups & bottles
- Glass
- Ceramic mugs
- Most smooth, non-porous surfaces
Avoid textured, rubberized, or silicone surfaces โ the wrap may not bond properly.
๐งน Step 1 โ Clean Your Surface
This is the most important step. Oil, dust, or fingerprints will prevent the wrap from sticking.
- Wash the tumbler with warm soapy water and rinse well.
- Dry completely with a lint-free cloth.
- Wipe the application area with isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher) and let it air dry for 1โ2 minutes.
- Avoid touching the surface with bare hands after cleaning.
๐ฏ Step 2 โ Align the Wrap
- Peel the wrap away from the backing sheet carefully โ do not rush.
- Hold the wrap up to your tumbler and find your desired placement before pressing anything down.
- Start from one edge and gently lower the wrap onto the surface, working from the center outward to avoid air bubbles.
๐ Step 3 โ Smooth & Press
- Use a credit card, squeegee, or your fingernail wrapped in a cloth to firmly press the wrap from the center outward.
- Pay extra attention to the seam edges โ press firmly to ensure full contact.
- Work out any air bubbles by pushing them toward the nearest edge.
- For wraparound designs: work gradually around the tumbler, pressing as you go to avoid creasing.
โฑ Step 4 โ Curing & Setting Time
UV-DTF wraps cure through contact pressure and adhesion โ no heat gun or UV lamp is required for the consumer application step.
- Allow the wrap to sit undisturbed for at least 24 hours after application before exposing it to any moisture.
- For the best bond, wait 48โ72 hours before the first wash.
- Keep the tumbler at room temperature during this time โ avoid extreme heat or cold while the wrap sets.
๐ซง Caring for Your Wrapped Tumbler
๐ Hand-Wash Only
To keep your wrap looking its best, hand washing is strongly recommended.
- Use warm (not hot) water and mild dish soap.
- Wash gently โ avoid scrubbing the wrap directly with abrasive sponges or brushes.
- Rinse and pat dry with a soft cloth.
๐ซ Avoid the Dishwasher
We do not recommend putting UV-DTF-wrapped tumblers in the dishwasher. The combination of high heat, harsh detergents, and high-pressure water jets can cause the wrap to lift, peel, or fade over time. Hand washing will significantly extend the life of your wrap.
Additional Tips
- Avoid prolonged soaking in water.
- Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight when possible, as UV exposure over time may affect color vibrancy.
- Do not use acetone, bleach, or abrasive cleaners near the wrap.
๐ Troubleshooting
| Issue | Likely Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Edges lifting | Surface not cleaned thoroughly, or edges not pressed firmly | Clean the edge, press firmly, and allow 24 hrs to re-set |
| Air bubbles | Wrap applied too quickly | Gently lift to the nearest bubble and re-press, working the bubble outward |
| Wrap not sticking | Oily or textured surface | Clean again with isopropyl alcohol; ensure the surface is smooth and non-porous |
| Peeling after washing | Dishwasher use or washing too soon after application | Switch to hand washing and allow full 48โ72 hr cure time before first wash |
